2021 R.E.D. Gala Host – Mr. Lenny Green, WBLS-FM 107.5 Host of “The Quiet Storm with Lenny Green”

Mr. Lenny Green

It’s his voice, that unmistakable deep, rich sound. With a vocal tone and smooth delivery that could melt glaciers, Lenny Green was destined for stardom. The host of the syndicated radio show “The Quiet Storm with Lenny Green,” Lenny makes his home at the show’s flagship station, the highly rated Tri-state (New York, New Jersey and Connecticut) radio station WBLS/107.5-FM. Recently syndicated by SupeRadio, Lenny’s weekday 7:00 pm to 12:00 midnight show will soon blossom out to be heard in cities across the United States. Lenny Green is the undisputed master of creating a relaxed, romantic atmosphere for his listeners, while playing the best variety of old school and today’s R&B music, to ease them into unwinding after their stress-filled days.  He sets THE MOOD unlike anyone else.

Hailing from Brooklyn, New York, Green grew up singing around the house with his mother and brother, with an appreciation of the R&B, hip-hop, jazz and gospel sounds.  At the age of twelve, he made his public singing debut at the World Famous Apollo Theatre’s Amateur Night, as the lead singer of his teenage R&B trio.  They won second place, leading to many paid engagements throughout New York City.  Later, as a student at Kingsborough Community College, he set his sights on radio, studying Broadcast Communications there, becoming an in-demand voice, both on campus and regionally.

Green began his radio career as many do, outside of his home market, as an on-air personality in Richmond, VA.  Later, he was morning/midday man and eventually evening host, while also holding down the Music Director spot, at WNHC-AM Radio in New Haven, CT, as he worked his way back toward home.  He made waves within Connecticut, receiving the most listened to air shift award at the only 24 hour commercial station in the state.  Connecticut music listeners voted Lenny as their favorite radio host and honored him with an on-air proclamation from New Haven Mayor John C. Daniels.  He is also the recipient of Billboard Magazine’s “Air Personality of the Year” Award, an honor given to him by his peers in the radio/music industry.

In 1995, Lenny joined the WRKS/98.7 KISS-FM family as Part-time Personality and then rose to Assistant Program Director and Host of the popular Love Show, Kissing After Dark with Lenny Green, where he remained until the recent elimination of KISS-FM in 2012, now Lenny has become a syndicated on-air personality.  Over the years, Lenny has interviewed a veritable Who’s Who of celebrities from music, film, theater and the like, including Patti LaBelle, Diana Ross, Tyrese, Mary J. Blige, Natalie Cole, Ashford and Simpson, Lionel Richie, Jay-Z, Smokey Robinson, the late great Barry White & Gerald Levert, as well as countless other A-list names.

In addition to his radio duties, Lenny emcees celebrity concerts, does voice-over work and radio programming consulting.  He is tireless in his community work, so that he can assist others, hosting numerous charity events and lending his time to a variety of worthwhile causes.  He is also a budding actor and writer, as a contributor to the best-selling book, “Souls Of My Brothers.”

Green helped organize and develop an artist management/event marketing company, High End Entertainment, because he believes in not only helping others, but wants to assist in developing the next generation of superstars.

A definitive entertainment industry professional, Lenny and his distinctive, silky baritone voice have carved out a prominent, noteworthy niche in radio.

Although on urban stations across the country, evening slow jam broadcasts are traditionally Quiet Storm shows, anyone can hear that there’s definitely no need for quiet – the Perfect Storm sounds like Lenny Green.
