In recent years, United has expanded its sustainability efforts, including broad partnerships and programs to reduce carbon emissions, develop sustainable aviation fuel, and promote environmental innovation. 

United is also deeply invested in community:

• Employees contribute thousands of volunteer hours each year—including during “September of Service” and National Volunteer Month—participating in neighborhood clean‑ups, tree plantings, park restorations, amenity‑kit upcycling, meal packing, and more. 

• Through Miles on a Mission, United enables customers to donate their frequent‑flyer miles to nonprofit partners for charitable uses.  In addition, United supports STEM education programs, disaster relief efforts, building inclusion, and inspiring leadership among future generations.
